NEW VIDEO COURSE

Last year’s video course was well attended and we gained several new members. We are planning another open course for camcorder users in September. This will cover the basics of using a camcorder and editing videos. The course will run for three Wednesday evenings, starting on 27th September, at our club room in Sheffield. Admission is free!

If you would like more details, send us an email from the Links page and we'll send you the programme as soon as it is available.

SCARBOROUGH WEEKEND

This June we decided to have a club weekend in Scarborough. The idea was to take our camcorders and make a film of our visit. We split up into groups and filmed in different parts of the town. The weather could have been better, but we got a lot of footage which is now being edited. And we had fun and games in the hotel in the evenings! In fact, we enjoyed it so much we’ve voted to go there again next year.

FROM THE ARCHIVES

From the Chairman’s Newsletter, March 1986.

“My Chairman’s Night was a bit of a worry. We’ve had entertainment, a quiz, and lectures in the past, so what about amateur 3D? The result: an audience sat through a film showing how it was done (not in 3D) followed by a 12 minute film in 3D of local scenes which seems to have worked (including the two Eumigs running rather noisily in sync). The system uses two simple Bell and Howell cameras linked mechanically, with the film projected by two mechanically linked projectors, through polarised filters. For the rest of the season, I think it has been these evenings staged by either one club member or a team that have proved to be a real success.”
